Philip Sansom is an award winning British film director & photographer. his work explores themes of the extraordinary in the everyday, often with a thread of magical realism. his signature style deftly combines a darkly comic tone of voice with a beautifully cinematic visual approach.

After completing a degree in fine art painting, he joined luminary design studio Blue Source. his passion for film soon saw him directing music videos at newly formed production company Colonel Blimp. Nominated for 8 Music Video Awards 2008 (including best director), his work caught the attention of the advertising industry and he moved into directing tv commercials, represented internationally by HSI London & creating campaigns for clients such as O2.

Philip formed his own production studio PHIX in 2015, which has gone on to attract a client list of some of the world's most iconic brands and agencies. His broad skillset as a creative, director, DOP and editor, has seen him in high demand within the fashion world - live directing runway shows for Adidas, Gucci and Y-3, and content campaign films & photography for Bvlgari featuring Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.

in film his first short The Black Hole, won grand prize at the inaugural virgin media awards, and has gone on to become a cult classic, clocking up over 30 million views on youtube alone.

One Man’s Loss and Last Respects added further festival awards & were selected for short of the week, nowness and vimeo staff picks. one man’s loss was also nominated for Best Film at the prestigious Madrid Fashion Film Awards.

His first tv documentary My View, profiled 2 time hall of fame drummer - Clem Burke of Blondie and Eurythmics fame. commissioned by SKU Arts and later nominated for Best UK Feature at Raindance Festival and best director at the copenhagen film festival.

his latest feature documentary TOPOWA! was made in support of charity Brass for Africa and their incredible work in with street children in Uganda. Most recently winning Best Music Documentary at Raindance 2020 & Best Feature Documentary at Berlin iff 2021.

Phil is currently in pre-production on his first scripted feature film - Out of the Blue.
